Google’s new smartwatches details leaked will be manufactured by LG

Rumors of Google smartwatches were present during the latter half of 2016, but the last days of the year came the official confirmation that Mountain View were about to launch these wearables during the early days of 2017. Today, Evan Blass, the famous @evleaks, came out to confirm that the expected update to Android Wear 2.0 will be ready on February 9, but that’s not the only thing that will come that day.

A few minutes ago, Blass just released new information about the clocks that Google prepares, information with almost all the details and technical aspects of the first smartwartches that will come under the brand of the company. This is a collaboration with LG, something similar to what happened in the Nexus range and now with the Pixel family with the HTC case.

LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style

Both devices will be presented at an event on February 9 and will go on sale the next day in the United States. Blass says to have in his hands publicity material of both devices, nevertheless, it is curious that he has not published any image until the moment.

As I mentioned, both devices will be manufactured by LG, where one aspect that draws attention is that the name of these watches is announced as LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style, that is, it retains the manufacturer’s name and not that of Google. Here we will have to be aware of whether it is maintained or changed to give weight to Google, as happened with the new Pixel range.

Let’s go with the details of these new watches. The Watch Sport will apparently be the top of the range, as its size, specifications and functions will outperform those of its Watch Style brother. Watch Sport will have a thickness of 14.2 millimeters and will arrive in titanium and dark blue colors, while the Style will arrive in colors titanium, silver, and rose gold, will have interchangeable straps and a thickness of 10.8 millimeters.

Both devices will have a touch screen on a circular OLED panel. In the Sport the screen will be 1.38 inches with 480 x 480 pixel resolution, while the Style will stay at 1.2 inches with 360 x 360 pixels resolution. Inside, both devices will have 4GB of internal memory, 768MB of RAM and 430mAh battery for the Sport, and 512MB with 240mAh for the Style.

Both watches will come with Android Wear 2.0, WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth, and Google Assistant, but the Sport will also integrate 3G and LTE mobile data connection, as well as GPS and NFC, allowing you to have the Android Pay mobile payment system. Another interesting point is about the design, as the two watches will integrate a digital crown that will aid navigation, as well as a physical button in the purest style of Apple Watch.

Finally, these new watches will be compatible with iOS and will have resistance to dust and water, with IP68 certification for Sport, and IP67 for Style. In addition, the Sport will integrate heart rate sensor and thanks to its mobile connectivity can be synchronized with a phone number, which will serve to leave our watch without having to carry the smartphone, an attractive bet for mobility and independent functions of this Smartwatch.

Now we only need to know its appearance and details of availability in other regions as well as its price, which will be decisive for a rapid adoption and a resurgence of these devices and Android Wear platform, which did not pass anything good in 2016.
